Resurrection Catholic Parish 1963-2023 We are Resurrection Catholic Parish;  the living body of Christ.  We are called and challenged  to live a prayer-filled life, heal a broken world, share our timeless stories, and act with a servant’s heart.  We are called to be the love of Jesus; welcoming and loving all God’s people all the time. 60 Years of Memories Flood of Memories By Sheila De Luca A flood of memories engulfs me as I think of my years of ministry at Resurrection Parish. As the newly hired Family Life Director, I had the great fortune to be immersed in a parish that put family first.  Opportunities to meet families of every age, size, and type were endless—baptism preparation, first Communion celebrations, confirmation sessions, single-again gatherings, marriage retreats, anniversary celebrations, visiting the homebound, funeral planning, and grief support groups.  Collaborating with the Family Life Committee and the Community Development Committee, I watched parishioners give

Dedicated parishioners and staff made numerous phone calls for the Resurrection 2000 campaign. Visionaries created the plan and parishioners made it happen.  The Gathering Area is a valued asset in helping our community to grow through faith formation opportunities, funeral visitations, and of course coffee and donuts. Kitty Barry has been a member of Resurrection Parish since 1990. I recall brick and stone samples on our dining room table as decisions were being made.   Throughout this process, Fr. Bill Spalding, our founding pastor, became a lifelong family friend.  I was in the last Resurrection Parish graduating class at St. Matthew School in 1965. The following year, Resurrection School opened. My four younger siblings attended Resurrection School.  My mother became involved in

I entered my 50th year of age in 1982. Members of the parish staff, guided by Mary Beth Jones, decided the occasion called for a “Surprise Birthday Party” and invited the whole parish! They pulled it off! It was a memorable event! As part of the evening, several people contrived a “roast.” One item I recall: Dan Jones appeared on crutches. The setting: I had recently demonstrated some failing of my eyesight. This especially became noticed at Mass when I had to move the server holding the missal back or for

Jim Feely was so pastoral, and the liturgies felt so welcoming.  Once I knew the school met my expectations as well, we shopped for a house and joined the parish in November of 1978.  Res has been home ever since and our three kids and now a grandson have graduated from Resurrection School. Lynn and Bernie Zey have been members of Resurrection Parish since 1978. Haikus Members of the 2023 Resurre

At Res there were many opportunities to be in groups, learn about our faith, and grow. The leaders and staff were always helpful, and I always felt welcome. But what I’ve learned is not just things connected to a church, but things that helped me in everyday living. I’ve learned to appreciate and pray at home on good and bad days—not just in a church building. I don’t really pray to saints because I’ve met some. Today, Res is booming with so many opportunities to help the communit

After we joined Resurrection Parish, Father William Spalding visited us and blessed our home. In 1974/75, our family celebrated Margaret Mary (Meg) White’s First Communion at our home with family. Fr. Tom Seery and Fr. Gerry Vedra, Resurrection’s co-pastors, were the celebrants. It was a very happy celebration! Chuck and Mary Lou White have been members of Resurrection Parish since 1972. These parish musicals were “Song of Mark,” “Feast of Life,” “AGAPE,” and “Tales of Wonder,” all by Marty Haugen. There were adult, youth, and children’s choirs, an instrumental combo, lots of backstage help with creating props and anything we asked for. Around 100 people participated in the musicals each time, from ages four to 99. These musicals bonded us closer to Christ, and to one another. The songs stayed with us thr

I feel that Resurrection has been blessed because of the spiritual leadership of Fr. Paul Demuth, Bishop Bob Morneau, and Fr. Tom Reynebeau. My faith journey has been enhanced by their ministry at Resurrection. Every celebration of Mass has special meaning to me. We are a prayerful community. We sing our praise. We have wonderful musicians and choirs that contribute so much to the prayerfulness of the community. The live streaming of Mass is truly a bonus that allows so many to be engaged in the celebration of Mass when una

Shortly after we had settled in, Fr. William Spalding, Resurrection’s founding pastor, visited our home and introduced himself and the parish. We were surprised and appreciated his concern for our well-being and the adjustments our family was facing. He certainly made us feel welcomed. We will always be grateful to Fr. Spalding’s introduction to Resurrection Parish, which continues to support our Catholic Faith. Congratulations on the 60th. Kenneth and Jea

We Remember, We Celebrate, We Believe Sixty years seems only a wee bit of time in the span of history. Yet 60 years of Resurrection Parish hold the stories of hundreds, indeed thousands, of people who called and still name this parish “home.”  From the brave and generous 300+ families who accepted the call to start a new parish in Allouez, with Fr. William Spalding as the founding pastor, through the building of a Vatican II church, Catholic grade school, faith formation center, gathering area, and family activity center, to the empowering of the baptized to live out their calling to welcome all, to lead with justice and compassion, to serve beyond our
