Day 6 of 60 Days to 60 Years
Resurrection Catholic Parish
1963-2023
We are Resurrection Catholic Parish;
the living body of Christ.
We are called and challenged
to live a prayer-filled life,
heal a broken world,
share our timeless stories,
and act with a servant’s heart.
We are called to be the love of Jesus;
welcoming and loving all God’s people all the time.
60 Years of Memories
So Many Opportunities
By Carolyn Gorenc
In all the years I’ve been at Res, I haven’t seen any miracles or comic experiences, but I’ve learned many things.
At Res there were many opportunities to be in groups, learn about our faith, and grow. The leaders and staff were always helpful, and I always felt welcome.
But what I’ve learned is not just things connected to a church, but things that helped me in everyday living. I’ve learned to appreciate and pray at home on good and bad days—not just in a church building. I don’t really pray to saints because I’ve met some.
Today, Res is booming with so many opportunities to help the community and parish. If it remains a good teaching and helping place, it will make a better parish and a better world.
Carolyn Gorenc has been a member of Resurrection Parish since 1981-’82.
Haikus
Members of the 2023 Resurrection confirmation class and their sponsors wrote haikus as part of their preparations to receive the sacrament.
Haikus are a type of unrhymed, three-line Japanese, 17-syllable poetry dating back to the 17th century. The first and third lines of a haiku each have five syllables. The second line has seven.
Love always flowing.
Father, Son, Holy Spirit.
Always there with me.
—Caden
Confirm me O Lord.
Lift me up on wings of Grace.
Soaring in your love.
—Yvonne
