Day 7 of 60 Days to 60 Years
Resurrection Catholic Parish
1963-2023
We are Resurrection Catholic Parish;
the living body of Christ.
We are called and challenged
to live a prayer-filled life,
heal a broken world,
share our timeless stories,
and act with a servant’s heart.
We are called to be the love of Jesus;
welcoming and loving all God’s people all the time.
60 Years of Memories
First a Parish, Then a House
By Lynn and Bernie Zey
Back in 1978 we were looking for a vibrant, welcoming parish that also had an excellent school. We went to different parishes each weekend but kept coming back to Resurrection because Fr. Jim Feely was so pastoral, and the liturgies felt so welcoming.
Once I knew the school met my expectations as well, we shopped for a house and joined the parish in November of 1978. Res has been home ever since and our three kids and now a grandson have graduated from Resurrection School.
Lynn and Bernie Zey have been members of Resurrection Parish since 1978.
Haikus
Members of the 2023 Resurrection confirmation class and their sponsors wrote haikus as part of their preparations to receive the sacrament.
Haikus are a type of unrhymed, three-line Japanese, 17-syllable poetry dating back to the 17th century. The first and third lines of a haiku each have five syllables. The second line has seven.
Living in God’s world,
Spreading his words of wisdom.
Being imperfect.
