Day 9 of 60 Days to 60 Years
Resurrection Catholic Parish
1963-2023
We are Resurrection Catholic Parish;
the living body of Christ.
We are called and challenged
to live a prayer-filled life,
heal a broken world,
share our timeless stories,
and act with a servant’s heart.
We are called to be the love of Jesus;
welcoming and loving all God’s people all the time.
60 Years of Memories
Brick and Stone Samples on Dining Room Table
By Mary McKenna Meisinger
My parents, Robert and Virginia McKenna, along with their six children, are charter members of Resurrection Parish.
My dad was part of the planning committee. I recall brick and stone samples on our dining room table as decisions were being made. Throughout this process, Fr. Bill Spalding, our founding pastor, became a lifelong family friend.
I was in the last Resurrection Parish graduating class at St. Matthew School in 1965. The following year, Resurrection School opened. My four younger siblings attended Resurrection School. My mother became involved in the new school.
In my sophomore year at St. Joseph Academy, all the students attended Mass at Resurrection Parish. I recall being SO VERY PROUD as the school assembled in our beautiful new church!
Mary McKenna Meisinger is a charter member of Resurrection Parish.
Haikus
Members of the 2023 Resurrection confirmation class and their sponsors wrote haikus as part of their preparations to receive the sacrament.
Living through God’s ways.
Choosing to follow God’s ways.
Confirm me, oh Lord.
—Jessica
Confirm under God.
Bathed in his light and Glory.
To spread his holy words.
—Jasmina
