Additional Memories

Resurrection Catholic Parish 1963-2023 We are Resurrection Catholic Parish;  the living body of Christ.  We are called and challenged  to live a prayer-filled life, heal a broken world, share our timeless stories, and act with a servant’s heart.  We are called to be the love of Jesus; welcoming and loving all God’s people all the time. 60 Years of Memories More Memories Than I Could Write By Glenn Champeau   I have 28 years of memories at Resurrection.  One was when my daughter Kelsie was the first baptism in the new font. I remember riding every day to Resurrection with my daughter Brandi—she to school and me to work. I started growing in my faith when my children celebrated the sacraments. I’ve met lots of parents. The ones who stick out most were Domez’ parents, who moved back to Ecuador. I’ve gone through five priests and have fond memories of them all and the solid advice they gave me that helped me grow in faith.  I cannot forget the volunteers and everyday folks. Some have passe

It feels like this is only the beginning. This anniversary celebration gives us the chance to not only look back at how far we've come as a parish family, but also to look forward to all the blessings God still holds for us as we continue to live the Gospel. On September 13, 1963, Bishop Stanislaus V. Bona established Resurrection as the 188 th  parish in the Diocese of Green Bay. Father William Spalding was the founding pastor and was followed by nine pastors, 3 associate pastors, 6 deacons, and numerous staff and lay leaders.  Resurrection has bee

I joined the parish 12 years ago, after he passed. Once I became involved with the Tree of Giving, as a primary on the altar, and serving for funerals, I’ve felt very much a part of the parish. The priests I served under have made my spiritual life very fulfilling. Joyce Runge has been a member of Resurrection since 2011. Photos From Our History The lights from the Tree of Giving have brightened numerous lives. The love given by the Resurrection Parish Family is the love of Christ in action.

Doctors told my wife, Janine, that she had stage 4 cancer. St. Norbert Abbey leadership let me know that the Norbertine Center for Spirituality, for which I was the director, would close in 10 days due to the Covid pandemic. Finally, my mother passed into eternal life as I completed my service to the abbey.  Would there be hope? Would there be resurrection in all this? After taking a couple months to tend to some of these affairs and discern what to do with the rest of my ministerial career after more than 35 years of church work, Fr. Tom Reynebeau aske

Both Amy and Laura attended Resurrection Grade School. It was through the parish that I completed what was then called commissioned ministry. It was at Res that I attended my first  Cursillo . And it was as a member of Resurrection that I was ordained a permanent deacon in 2001. The pastors we have had in my time, from Fr. Jim Feely to Fr. Tom Reynebeau, have all been good shepherds. And above all, the people of the parish have always been willing to step forward to help, from landscaping to youth ministry to l

Over the years there were two broken pews, and one tree that rolled off onto Libal Street. A few years later it was time to downsize. One year we had a cedar forest with over 40 trees. I was told, it was different!  We cherish the 15+ years of family memories of tree hunting up north. For three or four years we tree-hunted with Bishop Bob on his family land in Bear Creek. We even got some birch trees there.

One afternoon, we traveled to another school to present them. After we returned, Sharon and I were walking through the Gathering Area towards the church to put away a few items when an intense feeling hit me. A voice within said “I am home.” Right then, I knew Resurrection was my spiritual home.  My Resurrection parish family is a huge part of who I a

Missing my previous six years as a teacher, I inquired about an “ad” (plea) in the bulletin for catechists. Mary Beth Jones readily accepted my “application,” no interview necessary! The following year she asked me to join the team of five women who created lesson plans for catechists. Over nine years we offered various models: weekly classes after school, after supper, and even before school; whatever it took to accommodate families and the changing

Before my husband David and I moved to Indiana in 1993, we were involved in the parish in many ways. After 22 years away, we moved back and chose to rejoin Resurrection—primarily because Lyle and Michele Becker were still a part of the music ministry. We are again involved in many ways. I like the message of the stewardship prayer we said for a while: your parish is what you make it. We have made Resurrection our place for prayer, music, and service. M

I was in eighth grade and was a member of the first graduation class in 1966. The Friday before the new church was formally dedicated, in October 1965, Fr. William Spalding said the first “School Mass,” and I was one of the servers. I still refer to that, especially after a funeral, when I can say that I served for the first and last Mass said in this church. My mother, Pat Strenski, was the first person to donate her time as the school librarian, starting in 1965 and continuing for about 10 years. Early on, she made many trips to the Brown Cou
