Resurrection Catholic Parish 1963-2023 We are Resurrection Catholic Parish;  the living body of Christ.  We are called and challenged  to live a prayer-filled life, heal a broken world, share our timeless stories, and act with a servant’s heart.  We are called to be the love of Jesus; welcoming and loving all God’s people all the time. 60 Years of Memories I Consider Res My Extended Family By Mary F. Becker   In 1992, I moved from the Denmark area back to the Green Bay area. I checked out a few parishes to find my “fit.” Going to Res was like old home week! So many faces I recognized! And everyone was so welcoming. This was the one!  I went to the office to register and met Sr. Helen Plum. We talked and when she found out I had experience as a team member for the RCIA, and my love of Scripture, she “recruited” me immediately. This became my journey for many years, including reading at Mass. I consider Res my extended family and responsible for how I’ve grown as a Christian. This parish

I remember going to the Hilltopper gatherings. It was a good time to get away, meet other people, and socialize. I used to live on Libal Street, not far from Deacon Don Ropson’s mother. We would play cards together in the neighborhood. Then her son became our deacon at Resurrection. He would always greet me as I came into church and tell me about how his mother was doing. Resurrection is a very welcoming parish. Arletta LaHue has been a member of Resurrection Parish

We had four children under 12 years of age and were looking for a way to integrate into the community and parish.  We found the “Family Program” and Fr. Jim Feely. Saturday afternoons were Mass, breakout sessions, and dinner. A way to keep the family together, yet an opportunity to meet other families, form new friendships, and find comfort in our new home neighborhood. It was perfect! After losing a son, I was looking for a purpose and a cause. After talking with Fr. Paul Demuth, he recommended Ecumenical Partnership for Housing

They had only what they could carry in a few bags, spoke little English, and looked bewildered, tired, and frightened.   Parishioners shared household items and clothing, but more importantly, time, helping the families compete forms and paperwork, taking them to medical and social service appointments, teaching them English, and helping parents check the children’s backpacks for notes and homework.  We learned diffe

Tom to the Rescue By Nancy VandenBusch Alyssa VandenBusch, my granddaughter, and Al Anderson became engaged to be married in 2021.  Along came Covid and they postponed that to September 2022. She thought she had a priest, but he was transferred out of state and had to decline.   Since she was in Minneapolis, she presumed upon her dad, Jon, (who knew many priests) to find one to preside at the wedding. He had no luck after asking three or four. They were either busy or had plans for that date in September. Finally he was at the outdoor Mass with me at Res one Sunday and I introduced him to Fr. Tom. He had enjoyed his homilies prev

First as a member with my parents (Casey and Marge Zdziarski) and then as an adult.  My sister, Nancy (Zdziarski) Heyrman, was the first baby, to be baptized at Res. She was baptized at St. Joseph Chapel, on the diocesan property, because our church had not yet been built.  I was in the first class to make their First Communion at Res. I was also a 1972 graduate of Resurrection School. Carol Osgood is a charter member of Resurrection Parish. William Spalding was pastor at Resurrection Parish, I was working at Kellogg Citizens National Bank (Associated Bank) with Gene Sladky.  Gene was a close friend of Fr. Spalding and had promised to play Santa Claus at Resurrection Grade School. The day came and he was unable to play Santa Claus. So, he asked me to do it for him. I was not familiar with where Resurrection School is, so he gave me directions.  As I was driving there, unsure of where I was going, I got stopped by a police officer for speeding. I told him I was going to Resurrection School to play Santa Claus.   He said, “I heard

We bought a home on Hilltop Drive, five doors from Resurrection Church. Our pastor was Fr. Paul Demuth, followed by Bishop Robert Morneau. We now have Fr. Tom Reynebeau at the altar—and all around. He seems to be doing a very good job. I have met so many good friends at Res. First was Sheila De Luca. She always helped us, along with Rosemary Baloun. Jane and Kurt Lyon “adopted” us and since my sister’s death have brought me to church, shared ice cream, and checked on me all the time. Peg Anthe

With Earl’s background as a teacher and school psychologist, he became a member of the Res school board. He also served as an usher. I worked for many years with Mary Beth Jones in the Religion Education Department. Mary Beth was a knowledgeable and fair-minded person, and it was my good fortune to call her “my friend.” I enjoyed being a lector and did this for many years. Every pastor/priest shared his own special talents with us, which was a good thing. The friendships formed here at Res conti

We attended the outdoor Mass on the west side of the church building. The altar was under the Resurrection window and the people were sitting on the grassy hill. It was a beautiful introduction to a place that continues to “think outside the box.” We were members but work and children came first until someone reached out to get us involved with committees and functions of the parish. That changed our thinking of “church.” Some of my favorite memories are the musicals, “Song of Mark,” “Agape,” etc., in which we all

Schoultz Spaghetti for 60 people. That is the recipe we used for our famous spaghetti dinners—times four! We always had a great work crew—men and women working together to make it all come together. What a great way to get to know each other.  After dinner there was music and dancing.  I want to especially remember my dear friend, Rita Wiltgen, who co-chaired all those celebrations with me. Without her, these dinners would not have happened. Many hands make light work. Doris Schoultz is a charter member of Resurrection Parish.
